It was sad to hear that the invasive species of Signal Crayfish were found on the River Hart at Poulter’s Bridge. Here is some more information from the Hampshire and IOW Wildlife Trust that explains why this invasive species is such a threat to our indigenous crayfish.
The testing over the last weekend of August 2025 was the 4th monthly testing event. We are getting better at testing and recording our results and we are beginning to note patterns in data.
Water levels continue to be very low in our rivers and ponds despite the recent rain. It will take a long time for the aquifers to refill.
So is the source of the River Hart a chalk aquifer?
