Freshwater Survey By BvAR for the end of June 2025

BvAR volunteers did their second round of water testing on our local rivers over the last weekend in June 2025. The picture above give a snapshot of how the sample sites are fairing after a dry warm month.

And some key quotes which kind of show the concern for nature, our hopes for it and efforts that are going on to make a better place for nature and community.

” Sharon and I witnessed a family to geese and goslings picking their way through lots of foliage on BW. Low water levels due to lack of rain make things difficult for wildlife – but at least there is some.”

“Jack and I did two sites yesterday – no changes from previous results although phosphate levels at The Quays were slightly reduced. Also a few small fish spotted at The Quays and water very clear. I suspect that the long dry spell means that the storm tanks at the SWTs will be empty giving zero excuses for sewage discharges.”

“Just up from where we were testing (recycling centre Hartley Wintney ) we saw a kingfisher, which suggests there could be fish, even though it’s too murky to see any evidence!
