Water Testing November 2025

This is month 8 of water testing. More detail on the locations tested on the Rivers Blackwater, Hart, Whitewater and Cove Brook can be seen here on the Freshwater Watch Site. Scroll down and wait to see the map of locations.

Cove Brook (Cove Brook is a tributary to the River Blackwater and rises in Farnborough Airfield. The brook runs through Southwood Country Park and residential areas before entering the River Blackwater at Hawley. )

“Cove Brook/ Hawley Lane yesterday (29th November 2025) Nitrate 0.2 – 0.5, Phosphate < 0.02, Turbidity 15”

Compared to sections of the River Blackwater the Nitrate readings are low. It would be interesting to know more about the wildlife and vegetation the brook.

Blackwater River

Both Tice’s Meadow and Aldershot Park are lower in Nitrates. Both sites are upstream from the Aldershot Sewage Works.

Lakeside and Hollybush are below Aldershot Sewage Works and Lynchford Lane just below Ash Vale Sewage Works.

Here are the results for Aldershot Sewage Works – further tests beyond those for Nitrates and Phosphates have been taken at this location probably using a yellow box. Plenty of questions to ask about these results.

Results for Aldershot Sewage Works.
Brown sludge on the Blackwater

The picture above is taken downstream from Aldershot Sewage Works. We do not know the composition of the brown sludge.

Whitewater River

Here’s a positive quote.

“Bowling Alley Crondall .. what a pleasure to see lots of clear running water and no litter today .. a little foam however”

At the time of writing the Crondall Pond – the source of the River Hart that runs into the Whitewater continues to be dry. “it will take a lot more rain for the aquifers to fill and the water table to rise” for water to be a presence in the pond again.

Apologies for the two pictures above – screenshots were used to save time and the results are not to good. However, it is positive to see that some investment is being into testing water quality and managing storm overflow in the area.
