Rushmoor Borough Council is proposing to develop the Civic Quarter of Farnborough by building up to 1,000 flats, a hotel and shops in 9 blocks of up to 11 stories high. This development includes a new Leisure and Community Hub, replacing those demolished in 2021 . This will involve massive disruption and demolition including turning a large roundabout into a T-junction.
BVFoE is fighting the loss of peaceful green space and over 200 trees, which support biodiversity and provide a green corridor and canopy cover, decreasing the carbon emissions and pollution in Farnborough town centre.
We are also fighting for sustainable buildings, promotion of active travel, affordable housing and good community space for the centre of our town.
