Water Testing April 24th – April 26th 2026

This is our 13th Month of Testing the major piece of news is that we are now all entering our data onto the Water Rangers Site This is not without its teething problems but hopefully by next month data for the 21 testing sites on the Rivers Blackwater, Hart and Whitewater plus the tributary to the Blackwater – Cove Brook will be up there for you to see.

In the meantime news and pictures from our rivers:

The River Blackwater

We have to remember that the River Blackwater has 6 sewage treatment works on it. So all is good at Aldershot Park and Tices Meadow and then the river parallels the A331 with the traffic pollution, flows through light industry and all the STW’s

quotes

Balancing pond at Sandhurst does not look pretty. I think it’s a combination of weed, dropping blossom and the warm weather. Water looks quite clear.

Aldershot park , yesterday.
Turbidity was 14. The river is starting to get quite low and it’s only April. But it’s been very dry.

The River Hart

The Whitewater

No picture of the Whitewater for this month but hopefully more another time when we are established with the Water Rangers.

River Fly Monitoring

As a group we are collecting data and learning more about our rivers, the pollution and the cost to nature. Collectively our knowledge base is increasing but with that the issues to do with healing our rivers is massive. Gaining understanding of the invertebrates that should be in our rivers if the river is healthy is important. So we need to monitor the invertebrates in our rivers at key sites more frequently. No pictures this time but here is some information on River Fly Monitoring.
