This year Blackwater Valley FoE are working in partnership with Rushmoor Voluntary Services and are supporting many events happening in the area during GBGW
Our first event was to litter pick along a length of road from Ively Roundabout that connects Rushmoor to Hart. Seven bags of waste were collected along a length of path and the road. Tree protectors in the woodland edging the path and road were discarded in the woods. Many of the protectors had outlived the trees and were just scattered in the woodland. We piled up the protectors which were too large to go in the bags and have informed Rushmoor BC. Let’s hope they will be collected. This is BVFoE’s first litter picking event. It all looks better because of our efforts. It would be interesting to know more about the biodiversity in the wooded area and how it could be improved.
Cove Brook Greenway Event Sunday 9th June.
BVFoE had a table at this event alongside. We promoted our campaign – Vote for Climate and Nature and completed 2 surveys where members of the community were able to prioritize their concerns on local environmental issues concerning climate and Nature. It was a lovely day, family friendly, affordable, the weather was kind to us and many community and nature based stalls. A shared experience.
Litter pick at Napier Gardens and Lynchford Road,
This time the weather was less kind to us. A good turnout of volunteers litter picked in Napier Gardens and along the Lynchford Road. It was good to catch up and talk about improving North Camp for Nature and the Community.
It has been a great work and a real opportunity to get to know other groups that work in partnership with Rushmoor Voluntary Services. We are creating a network for nature and climate that involves the wider community.
